The Dragino WSS-08 is an optical rain gauge sensor designed for rainfall monitoring as part of the Dragino weather-station ecosystem. It detects rainfall optically and provides a pulse output with 0.1 mm rainfall represented by each pulse, enabling accurate rainfall accumulation monitoring without the mechanical tipping mechanism used in conventional rain gauges.

Designed for use with the Dragino WSC2-L Weather Station Controller, the WSS-08 operates from 9–30V DC, has a 6 cm sensing diameter, and supports rainfall intensity up to 24 mm/min. When connected to the WSC2-L, rainfall data can be incorporated into a LoRaWAN weather-monitoring system for agriculture, water-resource management, infrastructure and environmental monitoring applications.
